PENISTONE ROUND TABLE

I would guess most people don't really know who or what the Penistone Round Table are about.

They do some excellent work locally raising money for and supporting charities.

Organizing local events, such as the annual firework display in November

and Santa with his sleigh at Christmas time.

Maureen and I would like to thank Penistone Round Table for their generous £250 donation,

which will allow us to install heating into the cattery.

Take a look at their web site at http://www.penistoneroundtable.org.uk/

Lucky's Story

Hello my name is Lucky, and that is certainly what I am.

I was just 1 of 12, 2 week old kittens found by passers-by in a Wakefield Park.

We were all taken to Castle View Vets in Wakefield, who then called Maureen’s Penistone Cat Rescue.

They arranged for us to be taken into care with Maureen.

We were all very hungry and not at all well, I was probably the poorliest of all the kittens.

We became very famous in the Wakefield area as our story was told in the local Wakefield Express newspaper,

we all got our photos taken and put in it too. Everybody wanted us.

Maureen had to stay with us all night, hand feeding us, making sure we didn’t get thirsty or hungry.

She was very kind, but as the days passed by some of my friends began to die,

we had all caught a nasty tummy bug whilst in the park and I was close to death,

but by a little miracle and Maureen’s continuous care, I managed to pull through.

Unfortunately after about 3 weeks all my friends had died and I felt very lonely.

One day the Foster family, with little Chloe came to visit me,

I liked them alot and they said they wanted to take me home, I was really excited.

I am happy to sit in the window at my lovely new home and watch the birds fly past,

I want to chase them but I am still much too young to go outside.

I love to play with my toys and with Chloe.

My lovely new family changed my name to Dora, which I liked very much, until at 10 weeks old I was taken to see the vet.

My short traumatic life was to continue. We bumped into Maureen,

it was very nice to see her again and have a cuddle from her.

When it was my turn to go and see the vet, the kept on lifting up my tail and peering at me, they asked Maureen for an opinion,

everyone was laughing at me. It turned out I wasn’t a girl but a BOY!! What a shock to everybody.

I have decided I like my name, so nobody had better change it!

I want to thank everybody who has helped me to survive my ordeal, the vets, Maureen and the Fosters.
